Antonio Nieto-Rodriguez, MBA, PMP, Director, Chair - 2016 PMI Board of Directors

Antonio Nieto-Rodriguez is Director of Program Management Office at GlaxoSmithKline Vaccines. Previously he worked as Head of Transversal Portfolio Management at BNP Paribas Fortis, where he developed and implemented of a company-wide project selection and prioritization process for a portfolio of 150. He was also responsible of monitoring the execution of the roadmap providing quarterly updates to the bank’s executive committee.

Prior to that, Mr. Nieto-Rodriguez was the head of Post-Merger Integration at Fortis Bank, leading what was the largest takeover in the financial service history: the acquisition of ABN AMRO. He also worked for 10 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers as a senior manager, becoming the global lead practitioner for project management.

Mr. Nieto-Rodriguez is a professor at the prestigious executive education school Duke CE, and other leading business schools such as Instituto de Empresa, Solvay and Vlerick. Hon. Dr. Ekow Spio-Garbrah, Minister for Trade & Industry

Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah was appointed Minister of Trade and Industry of Ghana on 9th October 2014. He was Ghana's Minister of Communication from July 1997 to December 1998, Minister of Education from December 1998 to January 2001, and was concurrently Minister responsible for Mines and Energy from October to December 1999, under the government of President Jerry John Rawlings. Earlier, he served as Ghana’s Ambassador to the USA and Mexico from June 1994 to June 1997, during the Bill Clinton administration.

He has served as acting Chairman of Ghana's National Communications Authority from July 1997 to December 1998, and first Chairman of Ghana's VAT Service Board from 1998 to 2000. From 1997 to 1998 he was a member of the Governing Board of UNESCO in Paris. Previously, he was a senior official of the African Development Bank (1991-94), the World Bank Group (1988-1991), Southwestern Bell, (USA) 1985-1987 and Hill and Knowlton (USA), from 1979- 1985. Mr. Ary Bobrow, Director – Gambia, Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone

Ary Bobrow has more than 17 years of experience in project management, operations, and independent contracting. He is an experienced manager and trainer who has established and run PMOs at the Executive, Programme, Portfolio and Project Levels. His work has taken him to over 25 countries with a special appreciation for Africa. He is passionate about development was the co-founder of UNOPS Project Management Practice. He has headed up UNOPS sustainability programme for the last few years before being asked by the Executive Director to lead on UNOPS Ebola Response efforts. He is currently the Director for UNOPS covering Anglophone West Africa.


Deji Ishmael, MD, Afrissance

Deji Ishmael is an experienced project delivery professional with nearly two decades experience of working with management teams across Europe, United States and Africa delivering a diverse range of projects across different sectors including Technology and Telecommunications, Oil and Gas, Media, Government agencies and others.

Currently, he is focused on working with leadership teams of organisations to bridge the gap between strategy formulation/execution and benefits realisation. His practice is focused on building high performing cohesive team focused and aligned on the organisation clarity (priorities) required for success. He is the Managing Director of Afrissance Limited(management consulting firm headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria with pan-African aspirations).

Deji is a founding member of PMI Lagos (now PMI Nigeria) Chapter, past PMI Region Mentor and currently serves as a Community Engagement Committee member with the PMI Educational Foundation focused on championing project management for social good. He is a graduate of the PMI® Leadership Institute Master Class 2010 and a previous speaker at PMI EMEA congress and Leadership Institute Meetings.

Ing. Kenneth Ashigbeyis the Managing Director of Graphic Communications Group Ltd, Ghana’s leading and most influential media organization. Prior to this is was Chief Operating Officer (MultiTv), General Manager (JoyFm) and the Group Chief Technology Officer at Multimedia Group Ltd at different times.

Rockson Kwesi Dogbegah,

Mr. Rockson Kwesi Dogbegah is a Chartered Construction Manager, an MBA graduate from Demontfort University, Leicester UK and a Fellow of Chartered Institute of Building (FCIOB) UK, Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors(FRICS) UK, a Fellow of the Ghana Institute of Construction (FGIOC) and also a Fellow of Institute of Directors (FIoD) of Ghana.

He is the Board Chair of Berock Ventures Ltd, The Vice President of Chartered Institute of Building(CIOB)-Africa and also doubles as the Centre Chair for CIOB, Ghana and the President of Ghana Contractors Association Council (GCAC). Mr. Michael Abbey,

Mr.  Michael Abbey, born some 59 years ago is a Civil Engineer by profession.

He had his Secondary School education from Ebenezer Secondary School through to Adisadel College and then to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and Delft University of Technology for his graduate and post-graduate education respectively.

Until he joined the Ghana Highway Authority(GHA), he worked with some Construction firms both in Ghana and Nigeria. He joined the GHA in August 1986 and through hard work, dedicated service and integrity, he has risen through the ranks to become the Chief Executive Officer of the Authority.

Some of the positions he has held in the Authority include:

  • Principal Engineer, Contracts Division, head office
  • Regional Highway Director- Upper East and Central Regions
  • Director of Contracts, Head Office
  • Deputy Chief Executive(admin.)
  • Chief Executive Officer.

He also was a part-time lecturer with Cape Coast Polytechnic, Civil Engineering Department and a Consultant to the Ministry of Roads and Transport.

His consultancy services went beyond the shores of Ghana, to South Sudan where he rendered consultant services to the Ministry of Housing, Physical Planning and Environment.
